We are pleased to announce that New Experience Pilgrims have been acquired by Headwater.

It is a coming together of two kindred spirits, as Headwater is an award-winning specialist in self-guided walking and cycling holidays with over 37 years of experience and knowledge, while New Experience has been creating and perfecting walking and pilgrimage holidays around the world for over 20 years. Both businesses were founded from humble beginnings; led by husband-and-wife teams and offering a more personal approach, centred around customer experience and exceptional service.

Perhaps not as famous as the renowned Camino de Santiago (but no less significant in importance), this lesser-trodden pilgrimage offers a truly unique spiritual journey, just as the Camino de Santiago does. This ancient pilgrimage, fondly known as the ‘Camino to Rome’, connects Canterbury to Rome covering 1900km and traversing 4 countries (UK, France, Switzerland and Italy).

This self-guided walking trip begins in the beautiful city of Orvieto which boasts arguably the most beautiful cathedral in Italy. From here walk through Tuscia Laziale, an agricultural region of fields and olive groves dotted with volcanic lakes. Following the ancient Via Cassia, pass through beautiful villages such as Montefiascone, the fortified city of Viterbo, the Etruscan necropolis and the Roman amphitheatre of Sutri and the small medieval churches of Vetrallla and Campagnano. The path continues, through thick forests of oaks and past ruined abbeys and control towers and ends in Rome; the 'Eternal City'.

As a Pilgrim to Rome, you are allowed into parts of the Vatican City no other visitors are permitted to venture and can receive your Testimonium at the Basilica (equivalent of the Compostela rewarded on the Camino de Santiago).

With our profound knowledge of the routes and our established, reliable, local support along the entire route, New Experience Pilgrims has the expertise and devotion to offer an individually arranged spiritual journey of a lifetime; one we are certain will hold a special place in your heart forever.
